Peter Morgan, the creator and showrunner of Netflix’s “The Crown,” has signed a multi-year overall deal with the streaming service, a spokesperson for the company told TheWrap on Friday.

Under the new pact, which was set just ahead of the royal drama’s Olivia Colman-led Season 3 launch on Nov. 17, Morgan will create and develop new TV series and movies for Netflix.

Along with Colman, the third season of “The Crown” stars Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Ben Daniels as Lord Snowdon, Jason Watkins as Prime Minister Harold Wilson, and Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten.

The network has given a script commitment to The Vault, a drama from writer Jesse Lasky (Code Black), sister studio Universal TV and Keshet Studios.

The series centers on Annie, a geobiologist. When a cataclysmic event seemingly wipes out the planet, the survival of humanity rests on her, as she has been setting up a state-of-the-art facility in the Arctic known as the Vault. It houses a dozen experts in their respective fields with specific skill sets that could be essential in rebuilding civilization.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will provide the snarky voice of gossip maven Vesper Fairchild on the CW’s new drama Batwoman, which premieres at Sunday at 8 Pm and stars Ruby Rose as Bruce Wayne’s cousin, Kate Kane, aka the fierce vigilante called Batwoman.

Deadline has confirmed that Maddow will portray Fairchild, a media personality who had a romantic relationship with Batman’s alter ego in the pages of DC Comics. Maddow has not filmed any appearances for the show, however, and the plan in place is for her Fairchild portrayal to be a voice-only role. The media personality will be heard (but not seen) as the taunting commentator reaching the city’s denizens via radio broadcast or audio-only media.

Lewis Dauber, a character actor seen most recently in the Fox television series “Lethal Weapon,” died Thursday in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He was 70.

Dauber first secured the role of Harry in the 1984 “AfterMash” before building a steady career of on-screen parts in both film and television. His acting career spans over two decades and includes more most recent roles in “New Girl,” “Workaholics” and “Rules of Engagement.”

Born in New York, Dauber started his career in the banking industry after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley. He began his career ay Citibank and then left banking in order to pursue a professional acting career.
